What Does A Web Ad Say About Your Tech Saavy?

There's nothing quite like an election season.
The lack of sleep, the bitterness, the anger, the bitchiness, the back-stabbing and of course the campaign ads.

Right now, there's a race to fill Ted Kennedy's empty Senate seat. While the Democrats have been buying air time on television, the two Republican candidates have been sticking to the web.
Which brings me to this glorious gem that was released today:

More than anything, this ad makes me giggle. Maybe it's the little girl, maybe it's the music, maybe it's the photoshopped image of Scott Brown hiding behind a tree. I don't know, it's just so well, cheesy.

Which got me thinking - can anyone take a candidate seriously that releases an ad like this? It looks like something that airs as part of an after school special, or late at night in between the infomercials.

To me, this web ad fails to realize the power of a viral video. Viral videos are viral because they're unique and interesting and innovative. This video is anything but. That's not to say that the Democratic ads airing on television are exhilarating to watch either, but perhaps Jack E. Robinson could have taken a cue from the viral video Vote Different that blew up during the Presidential Election.

There's a reason that the popularity of that video went beyond the interwebs and into the national conversation.
